Kids Corner: Walk the Way ...

The new season of Kids Corner finds Liz and his friends in a new grade at a new school.

His first social studies assignment puts Liz in quite a predicament. While he is researching the skateboard subculture, he's mistakenly identified as a talented new skateboarder. And, Liz has to figure out whether he should tell the truth or try to live out the lie.

Lucille has the challenge of finding new friends. Liz is still her best friend, but she would like to find some new girlfriends--Christian girls who like to study the Bible.

And then there is a secret in Granny Gecko's past. Why was she a member of the Black Adder motorcycle group, and why does she make regular visits to the jail nearby?

Kids Corner Sneak Peek (III)

The Kids Corner season premiere is coming this weekend! Here's the third installment of our conversation with Barb Brouwer. Keep reading as she tells us a little more about what's happening this season!

Q. Kids Corner is definitely a program full of fun, excitement, and adventure, but each episode also contains a piece of truth that kids can apply to their own lives. What character qualities will we be learning about this season?

A. The main lesson this season is that God is control of what happens to us and He is faithful to help us. To reinforce this lesson, we'll be introducing a brand new song, which you will be able to hear in a few of this season's episodes and at our website.

Kids Corner Sneak Peek (II)

Still wondering what's going to be happening during the new season of Kids Corner? Keep reading for more of our conversation with Barb Brouwer, one of the producers of the program.

Q. Liz is the kind of lizard that always seems to be involved in one kind of adventure or another. This season, he has a big project in the works...would you mind sharing what it is?

A. Liz decides to start an internet radio station, WLZR, LizRadio.net. This is almost a big enough project for Liz's ambition and abilities. As programming director, he has a lot of time to fill, but his friends are more than ready to help by producing shows that Liz can include in the programming. Lucille's "What's Bothering You?", Morrie's "A Minute With Morrie", and Chamy's "Science and You", are highlights of the programming on Liz's new station. LizRadio.net will also be found at our website and include ongoing updates from Lucille, Morrie, and Chamy.

The radio station also gets them an invitation to go to Ireland. A listener from Ireland contacts them and asks for help starting a new station. This request results in a Spring Break trip to Ireland, a kidnapping, a history lesson, and lots of surprises.

The inspiration from this storyline is Roger Basick, the actor who plays Morrie. Roger's career has been in radio in the Chicago area, but recently, he felt God's call to help a new Christian radio station in Ireland, LifeFM. It is the only Christian radio station in Ireland. He is hoping to relocate to Ireland as a missionary, serving the radio station there.

A New Season of Kids Corner is Coming!

All of us here at the radio station are really excited about a brand new season of Kids Corner starting in just a few weeks!

We recently had a chance to catch up with Barb Brouwer, the project manager for the program. She's been kind enough to give us a little glimpse into the new season. Over the next few weeks, we'll be sharing those secrets right here...so be sure to visit often!

Q. Many HIS KIDS RADIO listeners and visitors to HisKids.net are familiar with Kids Corner...but for those who are new to the show, please tell us what it's all about.

A. Kids Corner tells the story of a young lizard named Liz (or Lizzer), who with his friends, Lucille, Morrie, Spike, and Scooter, has many adventures in and around Terrene, the town where he lives. Liz gets into a lot of crazy situations, but with the help of his parents and friends like Grandpa Anole and Granny Gecko, he is able to solve his problems and learn lessons while he does.

Q. One of the older lizards who helps Liz and his friends in their walk with God is Grandpa Anole. We'll be learning a little more about him this season - can you tell us more about that?

A. Grandpa Anole has lived a long and colorful life. The kids think they know him pretty well. Yes, he sometimes sounds crotchety and cantankerous, but he is always glad to see them and to help them learn about God and the Bible. But this season, Liz and the gang are surprised by Grandpa's behavior. The advice he gives them isn't what he usually says. He's not nice to them. In fact, he mostly seems annoyed and wants them to go away. Is Grandpa sick? Does he need help doing his chores? They just can't figure it out. And the answer is something they never expected. That's all I can say without giving away too many secrets...
