Hey, It's Election Day!

Today isn't an ordinary Tuesday...it's Election Day! People from sea to shining sea will be heading to the polls to cast their votes for president, vice president, senators, and many important issues.

You've probably heard a lot about the election from your parents and teachers, and maybe you've been able to catch some reports on the news. Our friends from Scholastic have made some great resources available to make the election process a little less confusing for kids (and adults too!)

• Make your own run for the White House as you become a candidate
• Catch up with some kids who spent time on the campaign trail with Senators McCain and Obama
• Find out more about how the United States government works
  

Even though many of us will be waiting anxiously to hear the results of today's election, don't forget that God already knows who will win. He has known since before time began, and is control of it all. We hope you'll be praying for our new president and the people who will be guiding his choices as he begins his new job in the White House.

See You AFTER The Pole

This morning, a special event was held at schools all over the United States and in other parts of the world. A special time of prayer, known as See You At The Pole, brought an estimated 3 million students together as they asked for God's guidance and protection for their schools, fellow students and teachers.

One of the great privileges we have as Christians is that of prayer. God loves it when we talk to Him. He's never too busy to listen to our prayers of thankfulness, our requests for help, or our cries for forgiveness. We can talk to God anytime, no matter what time it is or where we are.

God's Protection ...

What's the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the words "Paradise, California"? Most kids will recognize it as the home town of Mr. Nick from We Kids.

You may have seen on the weekend news that many people in Paradise had to leave town because of a large wildfire. Sadly, dozens of homes burned and one person lost their life, but officials believe it could have been much worse.



Mr. Nick says, "It's been quite a weekend, but God was gracious. Please join us in thanking Him for His protection!"

Pat Roy, writer and producer of Jonathan Park, also lives in Paradise. His family was one of the first to be evacuated, but after returning from several days away they found no damage to their home or ministry. In his words -- "God is good!"

Prayer for the Persecuted Church

Most of us reading this blog live in places where we can worship God freely. We don't have to worry about getting into trouble for going to church, reading the Bible, or praying. But for many people around the world, this isn't the case.

That's why this Sunday is the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. It's a day for everyone to ask God's blessings on those who are living out the Christian faith even though it may be dangerous for them to do so.

We hope you'll take some time to pray for Christians all over the world that aren't able to express their faith freely. While you're there, you can also learn about people who are helping to spread the message of Christ in many places around the world.
