Colors of Christ

When asked to tell about their favorite colors, 33% of the HIS KIDS RADIO listeners that took our poll said theirs was BLUE. Next in line were PINK and YELLOW (20%), followed by RED, GREEN & other. (I voted for "other" since my favorite color is BROWN!)

It's true that colors can tell a lot about a person, but they can also help us tell others about Jesus! A few years ago, Sarah Keith wrote a poem called the Colors of Christ.

• ORANGE is for Heaven so bright. (2 Samuel 22:13-14)
• YELLOW is for God's perfect light. (Matthew 5:48, Revelation 21:22-23)
• BLACK is for the sins we've made. (Romans 3:23)
• RED is for the blood He gave. (Romans 5:8)
• WHITE is for our cleansing from sin. (Psalm 51:1-2)
• GREEN is for our new life in Him. (Colossians 1:10)
• PINK is for His free gift to share. (Matthew 28:19-20)
• PURPLE is for the crowns we'll wear! (2 Timothy 4:8)

Sarah's poem is based on the Wordless Book, but she added a few colors to help tell more of the Gospel Story. Some people have even used these colors with beaded bracelets, fingers of a glove, blocks, charms, even sections of an umbrella!

Happy Birthday!

Birthdays are great, aren’t they? Especially when they’re viewed through the eyes of a child. Our youngest just celebrated his fourth year of life on this earth, reminding us that the smiles, snuggles and simplicity of childhood are certainly something to be cherished!

HIS KIDS RADIO is also observing a couple birthdays. It’s hard to believe that our full-time Christian radio station for kids turns 18 in October. Some of the big kids that began listening in the late 80s now have children of their own who are tuning in!

Also, our web site -- HisKids.net -- is one year old. Over the past twelve months we’ve been blessed with 500-thousand visits, 20-million hits, and have served enough online audio to keep one child listening for 31 years non-stop!

Reflecting on God’s faithfulness to HIS KIDS RADIO, we’re most thankful for the changed lives. Gabrielle in Michigan wrote this week to say, “I’ve been listening to HIS KIDS all my life and it’s taught me to love Christ.”

A boy named Alexander recently asked us to play Trading My Sorrows (for the Joy of the Lord). He lives in Nigeria and wants to thank Jesus for making a difference in his mom’s life, helping her take better care of the family even though she is HIV positive.

Multiply these stories many times over and you’ll begin to grasp the amazing impact God is having through this unique media ministry, across the country and around the world. It’s very exciting and humbling at the same time.

Fire Prevention Week

October 7-13 is Fire Prevention week, and we'd like to share a useful link provided by the US Fire Administration. FireSafety.gov for Kids shares tips about home safety, smoke alarms and escaping from fire.

Kids can play games, find pictures to color, and even learn how to become a Jr. Fire Marshal! There's also a spot for parents & teachers to obtain resources for the home and classroom.

We've been waiting for it all year - and now it's finally here! The brand new Snazzy CD from Go Fish hits stores today!

This CD is full of songs like "Saved", "The Mom Song", and "Superhero". They're sure to have you jammin' in your mini-van (or in your jammies...there's a song about those too!) :)

Fall is Favorite!

We recently invited readers/listeners to let us know about their favorite season of the year. (May I have the envelope, please?!) ;-)

Of all the people that shared answers with us, 39% said they like Fall the best! I was excited to hear about that since it's MY favorite season, too!

Winter was close behind at 25%, followed by Summer and then Spring.

Saying Thanks

Did you know that October is Clergy Appreciation Month? It's a special time set aside each year to give thanks to our pastors, youth leaders, and Sunday School teachers for all of the time and effort they put in to help us grow in our faith.

Phredd Is In The Prayer Chair!

Hey everybody - Amanda here. Thanks for visiting our brand new blog! Just wanted to let you know that with the turn of the calendar, we welcome someone new into the HIS KIDS RADIO Prayer Chair!

We're excited to be praying for Phredd this month! He's a zany kind of guy who has a big heart for kids and their families. He and his daughter Keilah sing at churches, schools, fairs, festivals and just about anywhere they can. They love to sing and perform for children and their families. They enjoy making people laugh and act goofy, but also feel they have a special place in the Body of Christ in helping children worship with all their heart, soul, mind and strength.

When he's not singing songs for kids and families, he is a "real-life" Radio Station Manager and morning show host at WJTL - a Christian Music Station in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Phredd is also a dad - with 8 children, ages 7 to 25.

As you're praying for Phredd, here are some requests to keep in mind:

• Pray for his daughter's health. She has been dealing with several debilitating issues for the past year or so.
  
• Their family has recently adopted a daughter and are still waiting for the final word to bring her home from Africa.
  
• Pray for stamina and good health during their very busy schedule.
  
• Pray that they will be able to focus on the Lord in all that they do.
  
• Pray for the ministry of WJTL.
