A New Season of Down Gilead Lane!

Many kids have been waiting patiently (and maybe even anxiously) for the new season of Down Gilead Lane. Well, the wait is almost over!

This weekend, you'll be able to catch up with the Morrison clan, the Richter family, and everyone else in Coleraine as you tune in to the season 12 premiere of Down Gilead Lane! Starting Saturday, the program will be available on-demand at HisKids.net!

Gilead Sneak Peek, part 3

And now...the third part in our conversation with Steve O'Dell about what will be happening during Season 11 of Down Gilead Lane!

Q. Back to the Morrisons - will we be able to visit Brooke or Justin in college this year? And what else can we expect to hear from Michael, Haley, Tim, and Hope?

A. Well, as I'm sure your listeners know, Brooke and Justin are not the only ones in college. In addition to the two Morrisons, several other favorite characters have been away at college. There's Caleb Richter, of course, and then there are also the Taylor twins: Luke and Becca. The cool thing about season 11 is that the whole season will take place during the summer, so we won’t HAVE to visit any of them in college - they’ll be home for the summer (which may take some imagination for listeners since the episodes will begin the weekend of January 31 and run through February, March and April)!

Gilead Sneak Peek, part 2

Still wondering what will be happening during Season 11 of Down Gilead Lane? Keep reading as we continue our conversation with Steve O'Dell, Creative Director at CBH Ministries.

Q. The Morrison family isn't the only family that lives on Gilead Lane. We've also gotten to know the Richter Family. They’ve been having a hard time lately, since Tom, his son, and youngest daughter Maya are doing their best to follow God, but his wife Monica and oldest daughter Tiffany are interested in other things. Will things be changing for their family this season?

A. Every good story needs a villain, right? Well, when DGL started out, the Richters were the villains—big time! But the cool thing about God is that He is in the business of making villains into heroes, and we wanted to reflect that in our story as it has gone on over time. So, yes, Mr. Richter (Tom), his oldest son, Caleb and youngest daughter, Maya have all decided to follow Jesus and are learning how to do that best in their different avenues of life, but also in the home they share with two people (Monica and Tiffany) who still seem very hard-hearted and opposed to following Jesus. To answer your question, things WILL be changing for their family this season, but I can’t really give you any details on that just yet. (*wink*)

A Gilead Sneak Peek...

As you might know, we're pretty excited about the brand new season of Down Gilead Lane. Recently, we had a chance to catch up with Steve O'Dell. He's the Creative Director at CBH Ministries. He's the one who gets to direct each episode and help take the show from words on a page to something fun on the radio. Since he knows all of the ins and outs of the program, we thought he might be the best one to give us a sneak peek into what's going to happen in Season 11.

Here's the first of our three-part chat with Steve-O:

Q. Many of our HIS KIDS RADIO listeners enjoy tuning in to Down Gilead Lane each week, but for those who aren’t familiar with the program, can you give us a brief description of what it’s about?

A. Down Gilead Lane (DGL) is set in a small, Midwest town called Coleraine. Gilead Lane itself is where most of the story takes place as our main characters, the Morrison family live there. They’re all working together to figure out how God wants them to live and love through all the struggles that come their way.

Q. Over the past few seasons, we’ve been introduced to other people in Coleraine, too, like Grace Andrews. This season, there could be some big changes in store for Grace, as the construction of a new Family Fun Center threatens to destroy her house. Can you give us any updates?

A. Yes, the Morrison’s amazing neighbor, Grace, and her dog, Fin McCool, live down at the end of Gilead Lane. It’s a beautiful, quiet, mysterious setting and her home was designed and built by Grace’s father before he and Grace’s mom died tragically over 30 years ago. So, needless to say, when Gilead Lane became threatened by eminent domain and a development deal by a large organization that has just moved into Coleraine, Grace and the Morrisons were pretty upset and fearful of what might happen. At the end of Season 10, we heard bulldozers rolling down Gilead Lane toward Grace’s house with Grace, the Morrisons and all their other friends praying for God to show them what to do. Grace has come to terms with the fact that God may be asking her to give up her house, and she has surrendered to that possibility. Season 11 will pick up at that exact moment.
