Bigsby Is In The Prayer Chair

August is here - and that means we've got someone new sliding into the Prayer Chair! This month, we'd like to encourage you to pray for our pal Bigsby! We had the chance to catch up with him this week, and here's some news he'd like to share with you:

"We've been digging in locally, and as a family, working with churches in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The biggest focus has been in volunteering at our local church around the corner and helping to encourage Christian community. We're working toward starting an after-school creative-arts program at the church. The hope is that we'll get to know more families in our neighborhood. The Greatest Commandment (from Mark 12:30-31) has been the theme at every Bigsby show for several years now. In studying that passage of Scripture, I've learned that the Greek word for "neighbor" is from the Greek word for "near". A literal translation of "neighbors" would be "near-ones". Jesus said it's the greatest commandment, so we're taking it to heart!"

Here are some new projects that Bigsby is working on these days:

• He's finishing production on a new CD entitled "Monkey", soon to be released. This 14-song CD has plenty of upbeat tunes, some lost gems from previous projects, and even a baby techno-dance song called "Kick Your Feet".
• He's also begun work on a new kid's praise CD

As you're praying for Bigsby this month, here are a few requests to keep in mind:

• Pray for Bigsby and his family as they work with their local church. Pray that others will be encouraged to join in and help their neighbors.
• Bigsby is also working on bringing his home studio up-to-date (things are getting old and tend to break down). Pray that Bigsby can find some "great deals" on the right equipment to keep his music up and running.
• Pray that Bigsby's schedule will allow him much time for musical creativity.

Looking for August Birthdays!

It's hard to believe that July is coming to a close...but for kids who have birthdays in August, we can't turn the page on the calendar fast enough!

August 3 will be an exciting day for my daughter, Kate. At 2:58am, she'll officially turn FIVE years old! (Hopefully she'll wait until the daytime before bringing out the party horns and birthday cake). :)

Seeds Is In The Prayer Chair!

Now that the month of May is here, many people start thinking about planting seeds in their gardens and flower beds. We hope you'll also be praying for Seeds, because they're in our Prayer Chair!

The folks at Seeds Family Worship love to watch sprouts grow as they work to plant God's Word in the hearts of families. They've recently repackaged all five Seeds albums, to help kids and families spread God's Word. Now, each package contains two identical CDs - one to keep and one to share. From newsletters to new products, they're constantly working to provide families with more tools for worshiping together.

As you're praying for our friends at Seeds this month - here are some requests to keep in mind:

• Pray for worship leaders Jason Houser and Lance Wooldridge as they travel to churches around the country.
• Pray for the Seeds Family Worship team as they teach family worship classes at the LifeWay Worship Conferences this summer.
• Pray for the families around the world who hear Seeds music; pray that they will grow together in God's Word.
• Pray for the churches that we come in contact with. Many of them are working hard to build connections between what happens there on Sunday and what happens in the home.
• Finally, pray for Jason Houser as he writes songs for the 6th Seeds Family Worship album.

Get Ready for the Top 25 Kid Countdown!

It's hard to believe, but the end of 2008 is almost here! That means it's nearly time for the HIS KIDS RADIO Top 25 Kid Countdown!

In just a few weeks, we'll be playing through the 25 most requested songs of the year and speaking to some of your favorite artists. We've been keeping a tally of every song that's been requested this year...but now, we're adding an extra incentive for you to tell us which song you think is best.

Every time you request a song between now and December 15, you'll be entered into a special drawing for one of three great blocks of CDs from some of our favorite artists. Each block will include great music from Yancy, Charlie Bancroft, Seeds Family Worship, and many more. And you never know, we might even throw in a DVD or two, and maybe even some limited-edition HisKids.net gear. :)

Something NEW from Seeds Family Worship!

Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in a happy dance...because there's a BRAND NEW project from Seeds Family Worship!

Over the past few years, the folks at Seeds have helped us learn some great Bible verses by putting them to rockin' music. I know that their songs have helped my family learn God's Word in a really fun way.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have the coolest job ever? Well, I may not be a rock-star (I'm working on that) or a professional athlete (I do coach a girl's soccer team), but I'm pretty sure that I have one of the best jobs out there.

That's because I get to spend a lot of time making HIS KIDS RADIO a great station for kids and their families. I have a lot of fun putting all of the pieces together so the programs and music will play each day.

And every once in awhile, I get to see them face-to-face at different events around the country. All of our artists have a fun style all their own, which is why I have A LOT of favorite songs!

Dean-O is in the Prayer Chair!

April is here, and that means we've got someone new in the HIS KIDS RADIO Prayer Chair! This month, we're hoping you'll pray for some fun folks from California - Dean-O and the Dynamos!

Dean-O and his crew have been performing for kids and their families for many years, with a large focus in Southern California and other areas across the country. This year, they're pushing their ministry into high gear - by performing more than 75 concerts and giving away more than 25,000 CDs. In the coming months, they're also doing some fun things through their website, including downloads, music videos, and a whole lot more!

As you're praying for Dean-O and crew this month, here are a few simple requests:

Pray that they will have courage and strength to do God's will.

Face To Face

As I look out my window today, I see snow. Lots and lots of snow. And it's making me think of a recent trip I took to Florida (where there's definitely NO snow!)

Last month, I had the opportunity to meet some of our favorite HIS KIDS RADIO artists, face to face. I must admit, even though I've become friends with them over the phone and through e-mail, I was a little "star-struck" and nervous to meet them in person!

Of course, they were all very nice and really excited about the opportunities they have to share their music with families like yours! They aren't in the business to make tons of money or to become super-famous. Their main goal is to help you develop a personal relationship with Jesus!

As a mom and "wanna-be rock star", I am so excited that there's great Christian music available for kids and thier families. It's not just music that will have you rockin' in the back seat of the mini-van, but it will also have you singing truths from the Bible! It doesn't get any better than that.

I hope you'll keep listening to HIS KIDS RADIO to hear great music from these folks and many others! And don't forget to share the music (and the great message) with your friends!

Yancy is in the Prayer Chair!

She's one of the most rockin' kids artists out there, and this month, Yancy is in the Prayer Chair!

Yancy is a singer, songwriter and worship leader. She's shared the stage with some big names in Christian music, including Newsboys, 4Him, Sonic Flood, and many others. She's also spent five years as a congregational worship leader, overseeing worship for people of all ages.

These days, Yancy leads worship at conferences, camps and retreats. Yancy's goal through her ministry is to share the love of Christ through music. She hopes to make good music that glorifies God and that reaches the audience she’s standing in front of.

As you're praying for Yancy this month, here are just a few requests to keep in mind:

• Pray that a lot of kids, families, and churches will be able to learn about Yancy's music.
• Pray that God will give Yancy a lot of opportunities to travel and share her music with famillies all over the world.
• Pray for the sale of Yancy's house. She's hoping to relocate her ministry from Oklahoma to Tennessee in the near future.
